Wordless Wednesday - Basking in the Sun

Croup

Shortly after the birthday festivities, we experienced something new in our house, croup.  It is not something that I particularly care to repeat.  Between Luke and Brooke, there were many sleepless nights, many, many doses of medicine, bottles of honey, and vaporizers that ran constantly.  We were willing to try anything.  Nothing was working.  A call to the doctor shed a tad more insight.  Basically this was going to run its course, but we could try one more approach to get through the nights.  With snow in the forecast, we were instructed to wrap them in a warm blanket and to walk outside and let the cool air calm their little lungs.  Hmmmm, this wasn't really want either mommy or daddy wanted to hear, but after going to bed and hearing their constant coughing, we were wrapping them in blankets and heading outside into the snow.  So, here are pictures at 1:00 a.m.  - outside.  In.The.Snow.

They still remember it, being sick and being wrapped in blankets out in the snow.  We remember it too!  The things we do for our kids!

Happy 4th Birthday!

I can honestly say that the first two years seemed like two years, after that though, the time started going really, really fast.  It is not a good feeling - I want to treasure these moments and remember them, but getting caught up in daily life happens.  So although I really didn't want to acknowledge that my kids were turning 4, we did!  We ate some delicious pizza at a local restaurant that features a buffet on Wednesdays.  When we got home, we posed for a few pics with the cake, and then it was off to the shower!

After showers, we sang happy birthday and they enjoyed their birthday treat!  Then, it was off to open presents. 

They all got some necessities for pre-school:  an apron, scissors and supplies, and a backpack!

The big present for all three was a set of 4 golf clubs!  Mommy can't wait to try these out on the course!

I cannot say it enough - I love these little people.  I cannot believe how much joy and laughter they've brought into our lives!  There are definitely still struggles and we all continually work at making our home a place of memories and love.  I am excited to see what the future holds, I just don't want it to happen too fast!  Here's to many more happy birthdays babies!  I love you!

Birthday Party - #4

The kids celebrated their birthday with family on the Friday before the actual day.  It was a casual party with SUPER WHY as the theme.  It is getting harder and harder to come up with something that both genders agree upon!  We might be able to squeak by one more year with a common theme but that is probably about it!

We enjoyed pizza, salad, scrumptious cake from Uncle Blake and some ice cream too, and the kids once again came away with plenty of presents.

 We all burned off some excess energy before bed!  Overall, the night was a hit with the kiddos!  They are fortunate to be blessed with such great family!

Luke decided to try his hand at photography during the party.  Some people do well in front of a camera and others, not so much!  :)

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street

Uncle Blake and Aunt Sara gave the kids an early birthday present.  The plan originally was that they would take the kids to see Sesame Street Live at the Peabody on a Saturday afternoon in January.  When Miss Sophia made her debut and the new mommy and daddy experienced a week with a newborn, the plans changed and Nana, Papa and Mommy enjoyed the day instead!

The kids were thrilled.  The show had a great story and was fantastic.  Even the adults enjoyed it!

We got a few pictures on the set and with the "characters" too.  It will be a day of memories for sure!
